Star Fish Swimming Lessons

Starfish Swimming LessonsDesigned for children beginning swimming lessons and those with limited swimming experience
This class is conducted by a qualified instructor with the following outcomes;
Classes run:      Monday to Friday 9:00am - 12 Noon

                                                   3.30pm-6.30pm

    Saturday 8.00am-12.30pm

Outcomes

  • Establish water safety skills.
  • Movement skills include basic; kicking, paddling and floating – with and without floatation aids.
  • Safety skills include: enter and exit the water with safety – initially aided with a view to establishing the child's ability unaided
  • Dog Paddle unaided at least 15m
  • Float and kick on back unaided at least 15m
  • Start developing correct hand, head and hip position as well as appropriate kicking and breathing in both freestyle and backstroke
  • Consolidate and further water safety skills

Progression

 Children are recommended for an assessment by their instructor when they competently complete the following skills:

  • 15m Dogpaddle
  • 15m Back Float
  • 15m Freestyle using a board and correct breathing action


The next level of class is known as Turtles
Other information
Each lesson runs for 30 minutes
Cost per class is $14
There is a maximum of 4 children per class
Minimum age for this class is 24 months

Bring a swimming costume and towel. Goggles are not needed when the child starts this level of class, but will be required when they start learning freestyle.
Swimming nappies are also required for any children not yet toilet trained.
