Little Squirts Swimming Lessons

Little Squirts (parent and child classes)

Designed for little people aged 6 months to 2 years

This class is conducted with a parent or carer in the water. It encourages children to be comfortable and confident in the water. The instructor assists the child as well as gives directions to the carer with the view to establishing basic water safety skills.

Outcomes

Progressive water familiarisation, with a view to establishing basic water safety skills.

Movement skills include basic; kicking, paddling and floating – with and without floatation aids.

Safety skills include:

  • jumps into the water from the side with your choice of immediate or gradual submersion of the child
  • Breath control
  • Catching the wall,

holding the edge and climbing out of the pool

Progression

Children progress to Starfish once they reach the age of 2 years.

As a little one approaches 2 years old the instructor may ask that the carer gradually spends less time in the water in preparation for StarfishOther informationEach lesson runs for 30 minutes
Cost per class is $14
There is a maximum of 6 children per class
Bring a swimming costume and towel for carer and little one. Swimming nappies are also required for any children not yet toilet trained.
